News24.com – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the BJP will need to work 100% for the next three years if it wants to take back power from the Congress-led UPA.
“It (BJP) will have an objective to win a majority from 2019 to 2022.
The task will be to work towards that objective, 100%,” Modi said during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday.
The prime minister was responding to a question on whether the party is looking at the 2019 general elections as a possibility to return to power.
Asked whether the BJP would have to rely on the 2019 elections as the basis of its policy, Modi said: “If the Congress wants to win the 2019 election, the BJP has to work on that, but we have to go through the process of forming a government in 2019 to make that happen.”
We have to do that.
But we will be able to win it in 2019.
If the Congress doesn’t want to go to 2019 elections, they can come back.
We will form a government from 2019,” Modi added.
The government will take up the issues of farmers, power distribution and other issues in the coming days, he added.
